Zippgun's editorial work is intended to support independent music discovery and artist development.
Reviews are meant to help artists present their work, reach listeners, and become part of a growing independent music archive.
Zippgun is not designed to manufacture hype or guarantee commercial outcomes.
2. Editorial Independence
Zippgun reviews are editorial content.
Payment for a review service does not guarantee:
- A positive review.
- Specific wording.
- Specific comparisons.
- Specific ratings.
- Specific promotional outcome.
- Streaming growth.
- Audience growth.
- Industry attention.
Zippgun aims to provide honest, useful, and publication-worthy editorial coverage.
3. Eligibility Versus Artistic Quality
Review eligibility is not based on whether Zippgun considers the music "good" or "bad."
Eligibility is based on whether the submission is reasonably presented as a completed work intended for public listening and distribution.
A submission may be declined if it is incomplete, unclear, legally problematic, impossible to access, misleading, or not suitable for publication.
Eligibility and refund consequences are governed by the Payment, Refund & Cancellation Policy.
4. Completed Works
Review services are intended for completed songs, EPs, albums, or releases.
Examples of potentially eligible materials include:
- Released singles.
- Public streaming links.
- Finished EPs.
- Finished albums.
- Completed SoundCloud releases intended for public listening.
Examples of potentially ineligible materials include:
- Rough snippets.
- Test uploads.
- Unfinished drafts.
- Incomplete demos not intended for public release.
- Placeholder files.
- Content submitted without enough information to review.
5. Genre Openness
Zippgun works with artists across genres and styles.
The platform is especially aligned with independent, emerging, underground, experimental, and DIY music communities, but review eligibility is not restricted to one genre.
6. Review Approach
Zippgun reviews may consider factors such as:
- Songwriting.
- Production.
- Performance.
- Arrangement.
- Atmosphere.
- Artist identity.
- Creative direction.
- Presentation.
- Emotional impact.
- Release context.
Not every review will address every factor.
Editorial focus depends on the submission and the judgment of the reviewer.
7. Constructive Criticism
Zippgun believes criticism should be useful, not cruel.
Reviews may identify strengths, weaknesses, context, comparisons, or areas where a release could be stronger.
The goal is to provide honest editorial perspective while respecting the artist's creative identity.
8. No Pay-for-Praise
Zippgun does not sell praise.
Purchasing a review service means purchasing editorial attention and review processing for an eligible submission.
It does not require Zippgun to publish false, exaggerated, misleading, or purely promotional opinions.
9. Promotion and Editorial Coverage
Promotion support may be offered alongside or separate from review publication.
Promotional opportunities do not change Zippgun's editorial independence.
Zippgun may use artist names, artwork, streaming links, review excerpts, and related public-facing materials to promote published editorial content.
10. Corrections
If a published review contains a factual error, artists may contact Zippgun with a correction request.
Zippgun may review and correct factual issues where appropriate.
Correction requests should not be used to demand changes to subjective editorial opinion.
11. Declining or Removing Content
Zippgun may decline, delay, modify, or remove editorial content where necessary for legal, safety, rights, platform, editorial, or operational reasons.
This may include concerns involving copyright, impersonation, harmful content, inaccurate submissions, inaccessible materials, or policy violations.
